Bristol Bordeaux Partnership Newsletter.

Welcome to the latest newsletter from the Bristol Bordeaux Partnership (BBP) for June 2024. Today we reflect on a month of further twinning activities  underway, and some planned.

This month the French Embassy was in Bristol and our Chair, Mike Healey was invited to take part in discussions about how twinning and other inter city activities can bolster economic, cultural and social links between France and the UK. We will share with you over the next months any new initiatives that arise as a result of that Embassy discussion.

Mini Assistants - Bristol University students in Bordeaux

The first two weeks of June saw this year's group of 6 Bristol University French department students spending two weeks in schools in Bordeaux.

BBP, as before, worked with Bristol University and our sister organisation in Bordeaux, the Association Bordeaux - Bristol, to arrange schools and hosts for the 6 students.

They will spend 2 weeks teaching French school children and at the same time improving their own French. And, no doubt, they'll be seeing the sights of Bordeaux as well.

We'll give you an summary of how it went in our next newsletter when they're back home.

University of the West of England (UWE)

Our Chair, Mike Healey, is developing a relationship with UWE and together they've been discussing ways in which BBP and UWE can work together to promote further twinning activities involving UWE students.

We will update you as and when these discussions come to fruition

Group visit to Bordeaux this June

25 members of BBP will be visiting Bordeaux at the end of June. As well as sightseeing and Le Fete le Vin there will be formal meetings with our sister organisation Association Bordeaux Bristol and a visit to the Hotel de Ville.

We will update you in the next newsletter how the trip went and any future twinning opportunities that were identified during our time in Bordeaux.

We hope that these updates on the recent activities of BBP are of interest and may even prompt you to want to become more involved and to help us with some of these initiatives. If you want to know more, please reply to this email.

We'd love to be able to spread the message re twinning in general and Bristol's links with Bordeaux in particular.

A bientôt!
