Bristol Bordeaux Partnership Newsletter. Welcome to the latest newsletter from the Bristol Bordeaux Partnership (BBP) for March 2024. Today we reflect on the recent visit of seven Bordeaux Students to Bristol and their work placements in Bristol Primary Schools. |
Bristol Mini Assistants schemeMarch saw the latest visit of Bordeaux students to Bristol as part of our ongoing Mini Assistants scheme. Seven students from Bordeaux University, all currently studying to become teachers, were placed in primary schools throughout Bristol, helping the children in those schools to learn some French and to learn more about France in general and Bordeaux in particular. In conjunction with Zoe Gibbons, Bristol City Council's International Twinning Officer, BBP arranged for the Bordeaux students to visit city hall and to meet the Lord Mayor, Paul Goggin (see picture). |
Mini Assistants part 2BBP worked with Chloe Laborde, Deputy Director for Language at Bristol University, to arrange a visit for the Bordeaux students to Bristol University. The students joined a discussion with students from Bristol University who were due to travel abroad themselves as part of their degrees. There was a lot of discussion of how the school day, uniforms and approaches to teaching differed between English and French schools and what the University students should expect when they arrive in France. The students shared contact details and hopefully will be able to help each other with hints and tips in future. |
Mini Assistants part 3Again via Chloe Laborde, Deputy Director for Language at Bristol University, we arranged for the Bordeaux students to have a guided walking tour of Clifton and all of the Bristol University buildings to give them a good introduction to all that the University has to offer. And on Thursday 28th, BBP took the Bordeaux students out for a meal at the Watershed to say farewell and wish them well for the future. Let's hope we see some of the seven students in Bristol again soon. |
Group visit to Bordeaux this June25 members of BBP will be visiting Bordeaux this June, visiting our sister organisation in Bordeaux, the Association Bordeaux Bristol, and enjoying the sights of Bordeaux. And we will be there at the time of the annual Fete du Vin - which should be great fun. For those of you joining this tour there will be a social event on May 1st at The Avon Gorge Hotel bar, where we will discuss the logistics of the trip. We look forward to seeing you at 18.15 that evening. |
We hope that these updates on the recent activities of BBP are of interest and may even prompt you to want to become more involved and to help us with some of these initiatives. If you want to know more, please reply to this email. We'd love to be able to spread the message re twinning in general and Bristol's links with Bordeaux in particular. A bientôt!
