Newsletter November 2024 - Bordeaux ENSAP students visit to UWE Bristol.

Welcome to the latest newsletter from the Bristol Bordeaux Partnership (BBP) for November 2024. Today we reflect on some further recent twinning events.

Bordeaux Architecture students' visit to Bristol.

November saw the visit of Architecture Masters students to Bristol from Bordeaux ENSAP

Architecture students from University of the West of England Bristol UWE spent a week with these students from ENSAP working on city projects exploring river, mapping and heritage.
One evening they were welcomed to City Hall by @brislordmayor and @bristolcouncil and given a tour of the building by principal historic environment officer, Pete Insole.

BBP, through its contacts with Bristol Junior Chamber of Commerce arranged for Martin Clark from Bristol based Architects  AWW to join the students at City Hall. He talked about the latest challenges for Architects in Bristol and answered questions from the students.

They then met and chatted with alumni from BBP including David Vowles, who took part in the Bristol Bordeaux school exchange in 1949!

Community of Purpose

BBP were honoured to be asked to help to celebrate 2024's Community of Purpose recent visit to Bordeaux at an evening event at City Hall. Thirty children from six schools across Bristol travelled to our twin city of Bordeaux in October to play a number of friendly football matches.

The four-day trip was part of the Bristol 2 Bordeaux Twinning programme and was run by the award-winning not-for-profit Community of Purpose. It was the culmination of the annual Bristol Together Championships, which runs fun football-themed sessions at 40 Bristol schools.

The aim is to strengthen the historic ties between the twinned cities and foster new friendships through football. And of course it gave the children a chance to make memories and in many cases was their first trip abroad. Read all about this year's football related trip to Bordeaux in this article in Bristol 24/7.

Bordeaux is now  accessible year round

Good news for those of you planning or hoping to visit Bordeaux in 2025.

Easyjet have extended their flights to include winter. So that previous "we'll have to wait until Easter" or "we'll have to go via London" is no more.

Bonne vacances !
